Effects of Pain
The pain crises that sickle cell patients undergo can happen anywhere at any given time. Patients can also have chronic pain (especially in their bones), which often lasts for weeks or months. Therefore, patients who experience chronic pain cannot participate in the activities that they would normally participate in. For a child, this could be very difficult and may lead to emotional problems. Especially if he or she wanted to go out to play with friends.
Diet
Excercising
Being a sickle cell patient, one should take regular exercise. Even though it is important to exercise regularly, the patient cannot overexert oneself because that may cause serious issues.
Extreme Temperatures
Sickle cell patients cannot be exposed to extreme temperatures. Extreme temperatures include being abnormally hot or cold whether it's a pool, jacuzzi, shower, or just the temperature outdoors. Considering this, a person with sickle cell anemia may be prohibited from doing the simple things such as going for a swim. Just because the water is too cold.
